Benefits of Membership FAQ

  1. Why should I be an ICTR member?

Access to a database of investigators, research topics, and community partners at UW-Madison and around the state are key benefits of joining ICTR. With each new member, the database has become more valuable for building collaborative clinical and translational research in Wisconsin.

  2. Will there be a membership fee for ICTR members?

There is no membership fee for becoming an ICTR member, but you must complete an on-line membership form. Investigators and others doing research are asked to provide demographic information and indicate their research interests to populate the membership database.

  3. Who can help me?

If you need assistance completing all the research categories, you can receive ICTR help by calling or emailing Donna Schaan, 608-262-3222, .

  4. What are the benefits of ICTR membership?

    ICTR Members can:

    1. Receive research discounts for laboratory and imaging services that include assays, imaging, and other tests from the many lab partners on the UW and Marshfield campuses.
    2. Have research protocols reviewed by the Clinical and Translational Research Core (formerly GCRC) and the ICTR Scientific Review Committee via submission to the Health Sciences IRB.
    3. Gain access to lCTR membership lists, core laboratory information, and assistance through consultations with biostatistics/bioinformatics, CTRC, IRB, OCT, and scientific editing of grants and manuscripts.
    4. Apply for ICTR pilot funds for clinical and translational research grants (Type 1 or Type 2) and community collaboration grants.
    5. Query the extensive ICTR Membership Database, which has more than 1400 investigators currently. Querying allows members to search by member name or by a research interest area. Access means members can find researchers with similar interests, access UW researcher publications, and contact others with related research projects.
