Clinical and Translational Research Core (CTRC)

The Clinical and Translational Research Core (CTRC) is the Institute's research unit, located on D6/6 in UW Hospital and Clinics. Previously known as the GCRC (General Clinical Research Center), this hospital-based unit offers a controlled environment for studies that require highly experienced research staff. The CTRC has 18 inpatient and outpatient rooms.

The CTRC is for federally-funded, investigator-initiated, and industry studies that need the in-hospital location, safety and expertise of the RN, BSN, and Nurse Practitioner staff. The CTRC recently collaborated with the Office of Clinical Trials to create a Mobile Research Team to serve investigators at satellite locations throughout UW Hospital in Madison. Contact ICTR Administrative Director, Paulette Sacksteder (, 608-263-3271) for more information. Our ICTR partner, Marshfield Clinic, is also creating a satellite clinical research unit in Marshfield.
