ICTR has an opening for the Director for the Wisconsin Network for Health Research (WiNHR), a collaborative research network providing infrastructure and support for statewide translational research. WiNHR facilitates opportunities for collaborative research between institutions and communities around the state.

Posted 10/19/09 – Research Project Director, PVL# 62730. The Research Project Director is responsible for the Implementation and Evaluation of Formal Training for Mentors of K-Series Mentored Career Development Awards project based in the UW-Madison's Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) within the Research and Career Development Core (REC). This two year multi-site randomized controlled trial will study mentor training in the biomedical academic community over a 21-month period with 6 months for baseline data collection, 9 months for the intervention, 3 months for follow-up, and 3 months for analysis. The trial will be conducted to determine whether the resultant skills-focused, case-based, mentor training program can improve the mentoring skills of faculty mentors. Recommendations resulting from the project will affect mentorship in the School of Medicine and Public Health and other schools and colleges within UW-Madison. This is a two year terminal appointment funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

This PhD and/or MD position is the anchor for a new ICTR Cluster Hire for the rapid translation of genetics and genomics-based findings to advance early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of complex diseases. The position provides an exceptional opportunity to translate genetic discoveries to the clinic and community through collaborative interactions with outstanding basic and clinical programs supported by a substantial network of core facilities. We welcome candidates with expertise in human genetics, genetic epidemiology, computational biology, and related fields.
